The course is for project managers and team leaders direcetly involved in project and programme management. It is an ideal follow-on course from the Project Cycle Management course (MS1), but can be taken as a stand alone module.
The course aims to show managers the importance of a participatory management style for development projects. Further it introduces the team approach as a means of organising human resources to achieve project objectives.
By the end of the course you should understand the principles behind results-focused leadership and progress measurement. You will also have reflected on your own management style and its fit within your organisation's culture and future management requirements.
The programme is very practical and presented through management games, group exercises and reflection sessions. The course is designed to ensure that participants - from a wide range of cultural backgrounds - are comfortable. It may be possible during the course for participant's strengths and weaknesses to be individually assessed with a confidential feedback session.
